Storm Jeffers is a fifth-year doctoral candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on Crime & Sociolegality, Race, and Education. Her dissertation research will mobilize in-depth interviews to understand how family members of prisoners and ex-prisoners are simultaneously subjects and mediators of the penal apparatus, and hopes to use this research to create policy recommendations aimed at recidivism. Ms. Jeffers also investigates how people in high-crime neighbourhoods grapple with being heavily policed, while also having to deal with an increased likelihood of being victimized. In addition to her work on the Anti-racism Task Force at UTM, Ms. Jeffers also lectures on Crime and Deviance at the St. George campus.
